- This text file will briefly decribe the program BUTINST program for
- ModemButler version 2.0.
-
- This program will allow the user to customize the ModemButler software
- for their individual computer. There are currently 22 default conditions
- that can be changed in BUTINST.
-
- The parameters themselves should be self-explanatory after a reading of the
- BUTLER.DOC file and some experience using ModemButler.
-
- The parameters themselves are modified by reading and writing to the
- BUTLER.DEF file on the current path/drive. If this file is not present
- there, BUTINST (or BUTLER) will create the file, with defaults set for each
- of the 22 parameters. The default conditions have been tested with
- a Hayes external Smartmodem 1200.
-
- When editing the defaults, a simple editor is in effect. Each parameter is
- shown in a field with the maximum length it can be. The bottom-right hand
- corner of the screen displays whether you are in insert or replace mode.
- The keys you may type are as follows:
-
- 0..9: for numerical or string parameters
- A..Z: for string parameters only (will not work with numerical parameters)
- Y or N: for Yes/No parameters only
- <enter>: will move the cursor to the next parameter to the right or down
- from the one you just edited.
- <F10>: accepts the changes you made to the current screen and returns to
- the main menu
- <up arrow>: moves the cursor up to the preceding field
- <down arrow>: moves the cursor down to the next field
- <Esc>: Aborts the current screen and returns to the main menu. Any changes
- that were entered into the screen are forgotten.
